Local Hero Expo
The City of Bloomington is delighted to announce the inaugural Local Hero Expo, scheduled to take place at Grossinger Motors Arena on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This event is a collaborative effort involving various City departments and local organizations, all dedicated to promoting public safety education across all age groups through engaging and inclusive experiences.
The Bloomington Police Department will be at the forefront of the event, offering multiple interactive stations and live demonstrations. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including crime scene investigation, officer workstations, and an impressive K-9 demonstration. The Bloomington Fire Department will provide fire extinguisher training, first aid demonstrations, and an exciting opportunity for attendees to climb a firetruck ladder inside the arena.
Additionally, the Bloomington Parks & Recreation Lifeguards, the Bloomington Public Library Bookmobile, and the Bloomington Public Works Department will also be on hand rounding out the diverse and informative experience for all who participate.
The American Red Cross will be conducting a blood drive at the event, offering the opportunity to contribute to this life-saving cause. Several local organizations will also be in attendance, showcasing their services and commitment to the community.
