Bloomington, IL (October 9, 2019) – The Second Annual Sixty Six Games Expo presented by State Farm will take place January 17-19, 2020 at VenuWorks-managed Grossinger Motors Arena. The event is owned and operated by the Bloomington-Normal Sports Commission who has expanded the event for its second year.

“The Sports Commission is proud to offer this event to our community again this year. We’re excited to have teams and attendees from throughout the Midwest travel to BN to take part in central Illinois’ finest esports event. The additions of the convention and clinic will take the expo to the next level and further establish its reputation in the region’s gaming industry,” said Bloomington-Normal Sports Commission Sports Director Matt Hawkins.

The Expo will include central Illinois’ first sanctioned League of Legends tournament that will feature a 32-team open tournament and a 16-team high school only tournament. This year, the Sixty Six Games has partnered with the Bloomington-Normal Video Game Convention which will add a retro gaming lounge, cosplay contest, and vintage game vendors who will be present as part of the convention.

This year’s Expo also now offer an esports clinic that will help guide high schools that are interested in adding an esports program and it will further educate those schools who already have programs. The clinic will be beneficial for school administration and coaches in middle school, high school, and collegiate level, as well as gamers and others interested in the esports industry. The estimated economic impact for this event is $46,000.

“We are thrilled to host this event again in 2020.  This second year promises to bring even more excitement and action including the new expo and retro games.  Esports continues to grow in popularity and we can’t wait to share it with more of the fans in this community,” said Grossinger Motors Arena Executive Director Lynn Cannon.
